The Department of Social and Management Sciences seeks to provide quality education and training in various domains of the Social and Management Sciences including Accounting and Psychology.
The B.Sc. (Accounting) degree program will equip students with the analytical and technical skills required to recognize and handle accounting-related issues.
The curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation of the principles of accounting and the fundamentals on which to build. The courses are designed to complement their skills and abilities with knowledge gained from their general education.
Accounting courses provide the fundamentals needed to succeed in careers such as:
Duration of Program: The Program will be offered over 3 years (full-time) and 5 years (part-time) for High School Graduates
Award of Degree: In order to be awarded the B. Sc. (Accounting) degree, students must successfully complete the minimum of 36 credits of courses in General Education and the minimum of 60 credits of core courses in the Accounting Program.
Delivery Mode: Courses will be delivered face-to-face and online.
Applicants must satisfy the minimum requirements to enter a program of study leading to a 4-year Bachelor degree in Accounting in their country of origin. These include GCE (Ordinary Level) Credit Pass in English, Mathematics and at least three other relevant courses in Liberal Arts (Humanities) or Social Sciences.
Applicants with GCE (Advanced Level) or a 2-year college diploma in another discipline or in a related and relevant subject area may be given an advanced standing or credit towards admission into the degree program in Accounting at American University of St. Vincent, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Additionally,
(a). Applicants must achieve a passing grade in CSEC or GCE ‘O’ level in no more than 2 examination sittings.
(b). Applicants with a post-secondary Diploma or Associate Degree must have attained minimum GPA of 3.0 or a cumulative B+ average from a recognized tertiary level institution.
No entrance examination is required at this time.
