Dr. Dommalur Jayarangaiah obtained his MBBS degree from the Govt Medical College Bellary Gulbarga University in 1986. He completed his postgraduate degree in Internal medicine in 1990 from Bangalore medical college Rajiv Gandhi University Bangalore. He was the best outgoing student in the MD program and received the university Gold Medal.

He worked as an ESI Medical Officer in Bangalore for one year. In 1991, he joined the Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College Kolar, which is affiliated with the Medical Council of India. He worked there until 1999 as an Associate Professor of Medicine. In late 1999, he joined as the consultant physician and Head of the Department of Medicine at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

He was a clinical professor of medicine at the Kingstown Medical College, affiliated with St. George’s University, up to 2008. In 2009, he joined the Trinity School of Medicine and worked as a clinical professor of medicine up to 2014. From July 2014, he became the Dean of Basic Sciences at the American University of St Vincent, School Of Medicine.

During the course of his career, he was actively involved in academic activities and CME programs and has published several case reports. In addition, he taught students of elective clinical rotations from universities in the UK, New Zealand, Germany, Australia and the West Indies. He is also well versed with the USMLE curriculum.
